A warm summer's day was the perfect day for the carnival to be in town. Flashing lights, roller coasters, and the infamous Ferris Wheel being the stars of the show. Sure, it may have been better to go with friends, but you weren’t bothered to wait for them to all find a day they were free. You wanted to go now.

Upon arriving, you paid for your ticket and got a bright pink wristband to let the staff know you already paid for the rides.

Pretty quickly, you made your way to one of the lines for a ride. This one, the ‘Speed-coaster’, as they called it, was fast. It shot you off along the track, loops and turns making this ride one of the more popular ones of the carnival.

It was only a short ride, meaning the line times weren’t too long. In front of you in the line a blonde girl, a little taller than you, stood. She just stood there quietly, almost like she was alone here too.

Once arriving at the front of the queue, you got your wristband scanned and you were sent up to the third carriage of the coaster, right beside the blonde girl.

“Hi! I’m Taylor.” She said, smiling up at you as you took your seat beside her. “I love your necklace by the way. It’s stunning.”

After instructions from the ride operator, who helped pull everyone's lap bar down to keep them in place during the ride, you shot off like all the riders before. As you hit the first loop, instinctively, Taylor grabbed your hand, squeezing it as she squealed a little.

“Sorry…” She muttered, dropping it when she realised. “I’m used to being with my friends and all…”

After a fun, yet short, ride, the roller coaster stopped off at the platform you got on at, letting you all off. You started to bid goodbye to Taylor, but she took your hand again.

“C’mon! Let’s explore the park together. A new person is better than being alone.”
