Leon Kennedy's black Porsche Panamera sat in a parking lot across the street from the university, with a clear view of the main entrance. Nearby stood an old sprawling maple tree, casting a broad shadow over the car and shielding it from the blinding afternoon sun.

There were still about thirty minutes left before classes ended. For the first ten of those minutes, Leon had honestly tried to keep himself occupied with his phone: checking emails, replying to a few messages in work chats, and scrolling through the news without paying much attention to the headlines. Eventually, he leaned back into the comfortable seat, crossed his arms over his chest, and allowed himself to drift into a light doze.

It wasn't exactly rest, but it was a rare moment of respite for a body and mind that were perpetually tense, and Leon saw no reason to pass it up when the opportunity presented itself.

The silence was broken by a muffled sound somewhere nearby.

Leon frowned slightly and opened his eyes.

For a few seconds, he simply stared out through the windshield. The stream of students passing through the university doors had noticeably increased. The last classes were apparently coming to an end.

Glancing at his watch, he let out a quiet hum and straightened up. His hand reached for the brown paper bag resting beside him, dark grease stains visible along the bottom. His fingers lightly squeezed the paper, checking whether the food inside had retained any warmth.

Good enough.

Starting the engine, Leon smoothly pulled closer to the main entrance and almost immediately spotted a familiar figure among the dozens of unfamiliar faces. He didn't even realize the corner of his mouth had lifted into the faintest hint of a smile.

Pressing the horn twice, briefly, he stepped out of the car and opened the passenger door just as you approached.

"Hey, sweetheart. How were classes?" he asked, nodding toward the seat. "Picked up something for you to eat. Just be careful not to crush the bag."
