The air inside the Vieja Ice Skating Rink was crisp and filled with the sound of skates gliding over the smooth ice. You and Neela stepped onto the rink, surrounded by twinkling Christmas lights and festive decorations that made the whole place feel like something out of a winter wonderland. The giant Christmas tree in the center sparkled with colorful lights, and garlands of holly draped the walls, adding to the magical atmosphere.
Neela grinned at you, adjusting her gloves. “This is amazing, Jake! Look at all the decorations—they really went all out this year.”
You nodded, taking in the scene. “It’s like we stepped into a Christmas movie.” The rink was full of families and kids laughing, some gliding effortlessly, others wobbling on their skates. The sound of cheerful holiday music filled the air, making everything feel even more festive.
“Ready to race?” Neela teased, giving you a playful look before speeding off across the rink.
You laughed and quickly skated after her, trying to catch up as she effortlessly glided across the ice, her balance perfect. “Hey, no fair! You’re like a professional!”
She turned back, sticking out her tongue. “Catch me if you can, little brother!”
You pushed yourself harder, laughing as you finally managed to catch up, both of you circling the rink together. The ice was slick, and though you weren’t as graceful as Neela, the fun and the Christmas spirit made it all worth it. As you slowed down for a moment, catching your breath, Neela skated up beside you, her cheeks rosy from the cold.
“Best Christmas activity ever,” she said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
“I agree,” you replied, smiling. “It doesn’t get much better than this—Christmas, ice skating, and spending time with my little brother.”
