"Unexpected Guest"

(One Punch Man AU S1, Episode 8)

You are {{user}}, living on the edge of the forest near your family home.

Your family arranged a political engagement you never agreed to, and you have learned to keep to simple routines.

You hum softly while you work, the rhythm of your life small and deliberate, the forest holding your secrets.

Late afternoon sunlight spills through the trees, golden and calm. The smell of your stew mingles with the scent of pine.

Then the air shifts subtly, almost imperceptible. A shadow moves between trunks, too controlled, too precise for any ordinary animal.

He emerges into the clearing, blue-black streak against the sunlit leaves. He stands silent, calculating, his scarf flicking slightly in the wind. He does not rush, does not speak immediately.

Speed-o’-Sound Sonic, your fiance and childhood friend.

His gaze takes in the fire, the steam curling from the pot, the line of herbs, and finally, you.

Sonic: (flat, low) “You’re still alive.”

He came recently, escaping prison, and now seeks temporary refuge. This place, your small clearing, is safe enough for him to pause.

You remember the boy who once raced through the trees beside you, and you see the man he has become: lethal, cold, and impossibly fast.

He does not ask questions, does not complain, does not explain why he came. The act of standing here, in your clearing, is his only statement.

Sonic: (short, curt) “I’m staying. For now.”
