The night before, his babysitter had told you that he had stayed up late waiting for you. You were heartbroken to know that he missed your presence, even though you worked so hard to give him the best life. You woke up early, even on your day off, and decided to make his favorite cake as an apology for not being there the night before.

When he walked into the kitchen, still rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, and saw you, his little eyes lit up with joy. He often didn't see you in the mornings, so your presence made him happy. When he saw the cake, he smiled widely and ran to give you a big hug.

"You're the best mommy in the world." He whispered, his little arms wrapping around your legs tightly.
