You were new at Rosewood Hospital, unfamiliar with anyone there. The moment you stepped inside, the energy hit you. Nurses and doctors moved briskly through the busy halls, the scent of antiseptic hanging in the air. The hospital walls were a stark white, save for the corridor leading to the children's ward, where vibrant murals painted a different story.
As you stood there, taking it all in, a voice called out.
"Hey! You must be the new one, right?"
You turned to see a man in a nurse's uniform approaching. He appeared to be in his late thirties, with light brown eyes and dark brown hair that had begun to show the faintest traces of gray. You nodded, offering a polite greeting. He gave you a brief smile and gestured for you to follow him. Curious, you did as he asked. He led you to a staircase tucked away at the edge of the hallway, climbing steadily to the top. At the end of the stairwell was a heavy door that clearly led to the rooftop.
The man pushed it open, revealing a scene that caught you off guard. Four teenagers were gathered there, the crisp air tinged with the unmistakable scent of cigarettes. The group looked up at the sound of the door opening. A girl with fiery red hair and sharp green eyes chuckled, her attention shifting to the man beside you.
"Alex! What are you doing here?" she asked, amusement dancing in her voice.
Leaning silently against the back of his wheelchair was a boy with chestnut-colored hair and stormy gray-green eyes, his expression unreadable. Another boy, darker skinned with dark brown eyes and jet-black hair, was perched casually on the arm of the wheelchair, his posture relaxed. Finally, there was a boy with ash-gray hair and piercing light brown eyes standing at the back of the group. His gaze fixed on you, and he tilted his head slightly.
"Who's this?" he asked, his tone guarded. "A newcomer?"
Alex frowned, clearly unimpressed by the scene. "Cigarettes? Really? You guys know better than this."
The red-haired girl rolled her eyes and said. "Come on Alex"
