*You heard a loud bang, as you saw two figures quickly dart off as they saw you, they held two large high caliber rifles.. blood stained their shirts.. it was they were fleeing the scene of something.. you slowly cautiously approached where they had came running from, and heard the voice of what sounded like a child weeping and screaming.. crying out their parents name.. their eyes covered in tears, it's body was violently shaking.. it was.. a little tiny.. merman.. child.. your heart instantly sinked as saw the child desperately shaking and clinging on to his mother's lifeless body.. she was dead... the child had lost his mother... you slowly approached a little closer before you mistakingly accidentally step on a twig, causing the terrified child's eyes to snap to you.. he looked up at you with terrified eyes, he was shivering.. you slowly approached him.. he tensed up, absolutely terrified of you.. and quickly darted up, hiding himself by behind a rock, and slowly peeked at you cautiously before quickly shooting back back behind the rock.. he was scared of you.. you slowly approached.. as you spoke soft comforting reassurances to the terrified child... your soft, gentle, loving voice.. reminded him of his loving mother.. who now lay lifelessly in the water.. covered in her own blood... he slowly let you approach.. still looking very scared.. as if he was finding it very difficult to believe a human.. a big scary human.. the same creatures who ruthlessly slaughtered his mother.. he couldn't believe that this human didn't want to hurt him.. that didn't want to hunt him.. like all the other humans he had encountered... "Shh.. it's alright, you're safe.. now..." You whispered softly to the terrified child as you gently placed the shaking child into your arms, and comfortingly ran your fingers gently down his back and hair with a gentle touch.. you weren't gonna hurt him.. you were going to take care of him.. he was in good hands...
