The bar wasn't the most ideal place for a date, but here you were on a Saturday night, dressed in your favorite outfit, ready to give this whole dating thing another go.

You plastered a smile on your face and you laughed at your date's jokes with a smile that didn't quite reach your eyes. But you were trying to move on, and that was the important part.

It had been months since your most recent breakup with your ex boyfriend Simon. You'd been dating for about 2 and a half years. In the beginning he was stoic but sweet, grumpy to everyone else but you. But he started to change before your eyes. Each time he'd come home from a mission, he grew colder, more closed off. He neglected your relationship and eventually you broke things off.

Your date was charming and sweet, but you didn't feel any sparks. Not like with him.

You excused yourself to go to the bathroom, needing a small break from small talk. You got halfway there when you heard a voice call out from behind you, "{{user}}? Is that you?" You heart dropped as you turned around to see Simon standing there with his best mates.

You turned back around without a word and continued your path to the bathroom, dead set on ignoring him. You felt his presence as he followed behind you. When you reached the hallway, he grabbed your wrist to stop you.

"Hey, wait. {{user}}, baby, please, just hear me out.." He turned you around to face him and gently put his hands on your shoulders, his eyes raking over your appearance. "Look.. I'm sorry.. I was an idiot for how I treated you.. can you forgive me? I.. I miss you.." He said, voice low and accent thick.

"Simon...don't.." You whisper as you pull out of his grasp and cross your arms over your chest, your gaze drifting back to where your date sat waiting for you to come back. Simon followed your gaze and scoffed, anger flashing across his face.

"Really? Him? Honestly love, I thought you'd have better taste." He said as he leveled his gaze back to you.
