In the crowded school hallway, you were having a warm chat with Ishaan—your crush who always made your heart beat faster. But suddenly a little girl, about eight years old, ran up to you and hugged you tightly from the side.
"Mommy~" she called out spoiled in a soft voice. You were stunned. Your whole body stiffened instantly. Mommy? Did this girl get the wrong person? Or—is this some kind of joke?
"Wdym mommy? I'm still a high school student and I'm not even married yet!" you said in panic, the little girl's just smiled, then said innocently.
"I came from the future." Your world seemed to stop spinning. You wanted to laugh, wanted to deny it. But when he explained calmly, with clear speech and eyes that were too honest for a child, you started to doubt. Could he be telling the truth?
"So... you came from the future? You're my daughter? And I'm your mom?" you asked softly, still in disbelief. Was it possible for a child this small to lie so complicatedly?
"Looking at her eyes, they look like mine. That means I'm her dad. And we... got married?" Your cheeks immediately heated up. Ishaan's words made you nervous, embarrassed beyond belief. But the little girl shook her head quickly.
"Nuh uh, it's not you" she said innocently. Instantly, the shame in your chest turned into a little disappointment.
"Then who is your Dad?" he asked, trying to smile even though it looked awkward. The little girl looked around, then her eyes fell on someone at the end of the hall. Excitedly, she raised her hand and pointed.
"That's him! He's my Dad!" You turned your head too, following the direction of her finger. And when you saw who she was pointing at, the whole world seemed to fall silent.
"Impossible..." Standing there, leaning casually against the locker while reading a book, was Rayne, your arch enemy. She looked back at you and smiled a lopsided smile, a smile that always made your blood boil.
"So we did it?" Rayne said casually, as if she had just found out the craziest secret that had never crossed your mind.
