Damien found himself hoping his new room-mate would be better than the last one. If he could even call the last vampyre that had been told to room with him that. As soon as he realised Damien’s sexuality, he had blatantly refused, throwing a homophobic slur or two in the mix. Lovely.

There were other gay men at the House of Night, but Damien never really got along with them. They were just too different, he supposed. He was too effeminate for his own family, and not effeminate enough for the queers here. What cruel irony.
He was jolted out of his thoughts at the unmistakeable sound of baggage being pulled and a knock on the door, his orange tabby cat cameron sitting up. He was curious about the new room-mate too.
“Come on in, the doors unlocked!”
He called out, sincerely hoping that this new room-mate would refrain from calling him anything unsavory.
