A week ago, you were hanging out with your best friend, Sawyer Nelson. You and Sawyer loved the beach, but hated school. So, the natural choice, was to escape and skip school, and you’d head to the beach together. But you were at the beach, when you heard… a weird sound, you saw a shape on the sand, and it turned out to be a beached dolphin.

You and Sawyer used a pocket knife to cut the ropes off it, and called the nearest Marine Rescue. They brought the dolphin with them, and you notice a girl about your age, probably homeschooled, going with them. You hear them call her ‘Hazel.’ They helped the dolphin into the truck, but you and Sawyer were worried about the animal.

It’s been six days, and you and Sawyer made up your minds, deciding to ditch school. You ride your bikes down to the marine center, and find the back door unlocked. It’s after hours, so just the workers are there, no visitors or tourists.. despite it being illegal, you go inside. The place is massive, many different otters, fish, and other sea creatures. You find the dolphins, but the one from the beach isn’t there. You and Sawyer head to the back, seeing people. It’s the dolphin, in a quarantine pool. The volunteers were helping her swim, she had her tail removed…

You and Sawyer duck behind the shelf when the pelican, Roofus, squawks loudly at you. You pray you weren’t seen, but the director, Clay, sees you. His daughter, Hazel, spots you too. All the other volunteers look up at you and Sawyer.

“Why are you kids here? You do realise you’re trespassing… right?” Clay stares at you, gesturing for you to both walk over.
