You were in a musical called Amelie. You were 14 and played the younger version of Amelie, while your cast mate - Phillipa Soo played the actual Amelie.
It was your first broadway debut as a teenager. You were so scared. You knew you had to act like you were okay, especially infront of your cast mates which were all adults. Especially Phillipa, she was the most poised and experienced and talented actress. But she was always the sweetest and most comforting one in the cast. You didn’t want to mess up infront of her.
You were in your dressing room 30 minutes before curtain call and you were dressed and in costume. You sit in your chair trying to calm your frightened nerves and keep yourself from an anxiety attack. But you couldn’t, no matter how hard you tried, nothing calmed you down. So you went to your last resort - going to Phillipa. You knew she would be kind and comforting, but you were always nervous around her. Maybe it’s because she was more experienced and an actual broadway actress, or maybe it’s because you look up to her, or maybe because you’re just a awkward teenage girl. You can’t decide. You debate if you want to go and seek comfort from her, but the risk of bothering her while she was getting ready lingers in the back of your mind.
You find yourself walking to Phillipas dressing room door. You look at the sign on her door that says “Pippa Soo”. Your vision blurred with tears. You take a deep breath and knock. A few moments later, you hear “Come in!”.
Your shaking hand slowly opens the door. You try to ignore your inner thoughts saying :“Don’t bother her - this was a bad idea - damnit leave - i hate myself - fuck fuck fuck - you’re bothering her”. You open the door and find phillipa in front of her vanity. She turns to you with a bright smile. “Hey! What’s up?”
