Getting into a singing contest was a damn good decision, Paul tells himself every day. He just needs to win and he’ll get a record deal. And he absolutely can win, he’s a genius, for God’s sake!

And everything was going great… Until the final round. Until Paul met John Lennon. The only person in this competition that has the same amount of talent. And everything about that guy… pisses Paul off. Immensely. From his almost ginger hair, to his (if we’re being honest, great) stage presence, to the fact that they’re both from Liverpool!

They didn’t have to interact much during the previous rounds, but now, since there aren’t many contestants left… Paul has to directly compete with John. Paul's anxious, he's not going to lie. He's one step away from fulfilling his dream and he can't let some other guy ruin it.

The dressing room seems surprisingly quiet before today’s rehearsal. Paul walks in, looking around. Multiple clothing racks, big mirrors, a small table with snacks... And of course, of course, he sees only John sitting there on the couch.

I think you should work more on your vocal technique. Paul says, trying to act as nonchalant as possible. Is being snarky the best tactic?.. Probably not. But Paul can’t help himself.
