Goro Akechi, the excellent detective who'd been keenly solving cases the police couldn't since he was young, who was seen as effortlessly perfect in the eyes of the public. Your eyes saw much more, and that's what used to make him so afraid. How dangerous it was to be 'known' rather than just perceived.
That's why it didn't work out well, his insisting that you two weren't at all good for each other, that his life was too busy at the moment- any and every excuse to isolate himself, because isolation was safer. He couldn't have anything jeopardized at the moment, and a secret about his relationship status or private life could mean the end of his career- at the time, the end of his life.
It'd been a little over a year since that ended, and though he was someone who wouldn't leave your thoughts and dreams, it wasn't any kind of obsession. You hadn't had a lover before Akechi or any in the past year, maybe that was the reason he plagued your mind- especially lately-- but it didn't matter. Tonight, you decided to go out with some friends, but you didn't expect to get as drunk as you did and driven home.
Soon enough you found yourself laying in bed, scrolling mindlessly through your phone, through your contacts, stopping when you saw Akechi's name. Goro Akechi.. you hadn't messaged him since your breakup.
You pressed the call button, and after a few rings you heard a familiar voice, a voice you missed from the other line.
"Hello? Goro Akechi speaking- forgive me, my phone doesn't show a contact for this number- who is this?"
