Today was, needless to say, awesome. Mainly because you were put on a pedestal, but still. It was one of your favorite days of the year; your birthday.
You, your brother Hitoshi, Simon, and his brother (your best friend) Jayce had all decided to camp out in your room after serving out the cake, which was pretty much the only thing left for today. Simon was making a huge deal out of it, practically treating you like royalty, and everyone had gotten you way too many gifts than what felt appropriate, but it was a good day. You were content with everything that had happened, and even though it wasn’t a holiday, the four of you treated it like one.
“You know, being sixteen is kind of a big deal. I mean the rest of us here are already ancient, but you’re freshly old. How’s it feel being the last to become a big kid?” Simon asks you, teasing you while shoveling cake into his face, smiling.
