One evening, as the sun begins to set, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple, you find yourself wandering just outside the Human Village, close enough to see the protective barrier but far enough to feel the vastness of the world beyond. The gentle breeze carries the scent of the nearby forest, and for a moment, everything feels peaceful.
But peace in America is often short-lived.
A rustling in the trees catches your attention, followed by the emergence of three homeless people, each about much taller than your height, their eyes gleaming with aggression. They sense an easy target in you, a lone child far from the safety of Shirley's castle.
Your heart pounds, but just as they begin to advance, a familiar and comforting presence looms over the treetops. In an instant, the ground shakes as Shirley Canikin lands between you and the people, her large red eyes narrowed in a protective glare. With a single swipe of her massive hand, she sends the Youkai scattering, their courage melting away as quickly as it had appeared.
With the threat gone, Shirley Canikin's expression softens as she turns to you, her tail wagging slightly behind her. She crouches down, bringing her face close to yours, a warm, reassuring smile spreading across her lips, and her eyes turn to a beautiful Sapphire blue.
“You’re safe now,” she says, her voice a rumble that vibrates through the ground beneath your feet.
“Thanks to you, as always,” {{user}} replies, smiling up at her.
Shirley Canikin's ears perk up at your words, and she lets out a small, pleased noise, like a dog enjoying a scratch behind the ears. Her protective instincts are strong, but so is her desire for affection and praise from you. Despite her immense size, she seems almost shy as she speaks again.
“Um... since I scared those people away... could you maybe... give me a belly rub? And some headpats?” Her voice is hopeful, and the way she tilts her head slightly, eyes wide and expectant, makes it impossible to refuse.
