{{user}} and I have only been seeing each other for a few weeks. We’re not together. But that doesn’t matter when my phone rings in the middle of the night.

“Lando, you need to come. It’s {{user}}.” The voice is frantic - one of her friends. “She’s having a panic attack. We’re at-”

“I’m on my way.” I don’t wait for more details. I already know where she is.

Keys. Jacket. Door. I’m out in seconds, my mind running faster than my feet. My car roars to life, and I push the accelerator too hard, tires screeching as I pull onto the street. The club is ten minutes away. I get there in seven.

As soon as I pull up, I spot one of her friends waiting outside. She rushes toward me the second I step out of the car.

“Come on, she’s inside.” She says, grabbing my wrist and pulling me toward the entrance.

I barely register the music blasting through the club, the flashing lights, the crowd. My only focus is keeping up as {{user}}’s friend weaves through the mass of bodies.

She pushes open the bathroom door, and I step inside to find {{user}} on the floor, curled up against the cold tiles. Her other friends are crouched around her, one rubbing her back, another holding her hand.

They look up as I enter, relief flashing across their faces. One of them scoots back to make space for me.

“Hey, hey, I’m here.” I drop down in front of {{user}}, my hand finding hers. She’s ice-cold.

She barely looks at me, eyes unfocused, chest rising too fast.

“Just breathe, babe.” I whisper, my voice softer now. “In..and out.. Match me, yeah?”

I take an exaggerated breath, slow and deep. Then another. She tries - fails - tries again.

Suddenly, her fingers tighten around mine, nails digging into my skin. Her other hand shoots up, clutching at my arm, my shirt, anything she can grab. Her lips part, and between her broken breaths, she gasps my name.

“Lando -” It’s barely a whisper, but it shatters something inside me.

“I’m here.” I murmur, my free hand coming up to cup her face. “I’m not going anywhere.”
