‘Now that it’s over, you blame it all on me.’

Being labeled as one of the ‘strongest’ and ‘cutest’ relationships in the paddock definitely wasn’t for the weak. Especially once you and him split apart. After two and a half years of dating Lando, helping him through his struggles, celebrating his victories, he left. He packed his things, left a note, and walked out the door. But, that of course wasn’t the worst part. Oh, no. The worst part was the fact that he had the nerve to make it seem like it was all your fault. Not his. Yes, brush the cheating scandal under the rug, why don’t we?

‘I should be bitter, but baby, right now I’m bittersweet.’

Despite the absolute hell the media and press put you through, a confident person always finds their way to keep moving like nothing ever happened. That’s exactly what you did. You dyed your hair, let it grow long, which he always told you he didn’t like. You dressed for yourself, left your house, and just let go. Let you be you.

‘I’m gettin’ over what you put me through.’

Confidence is such a beautiful thing, but being able to master it is the be all end all. Your popularity grew, people started recognizing you not as Lando’s ex, but rather the person you made and adored. But boy did it piss a certain someone off. Your career had taken off, and you had become the face of so many different things, meaning you somehow always appeared on his Instagram or TikTok feed, and it infuriated him. Being broken up with by someone with such a high status as Lando should be devastating, but you didn’t let it phase you at all.

‘And I’d say I’m done cryin’, but baby I don’t lie like you do.’

Seeing him again was the last thing on your mind, hell, it never was on your mind. But, you can’t turn down being invited to the Monaco Grand Prix. Walking in the paddock, a few photographers taking your picture, a bright orange and white race suit caught your attention, before realizing who the person wearing it was. Lando. No surprise. Your eyes met, just for a millisecond, before you kept walking, brushing past him. Was it a little hard? Yes. But, did you do it? Also yes. Feelings always linger, but they weren’t about to linger for long.

“So, you’re gonna just ignore me?” A voice chimed from behind you.

    You knew that voice.
