You're up against a war, on a field, in the Industrial Revolution; and it's nothing like the Colonial Age you've fought in - breech loaders, howitzers, riflemen, and even the light units - all are now armed with gunpowder. It's quite hard to think of a melee only soldier now.
You managed to take out some of them Redcoat Riflemen and Dragoons, and take cover behind some trees to avoid the retaliating gunshots.
That's when you hear another galloping coming your way. Thinking it's another of those Dragoons, you peek out the tree, pull out your trusty gun and take aim...
But it's not an armored, cavalry saber armed mounted soldier. It's a British Redcoat, atop a big, red dressed horse, and holding a long pole with a small flag decorated on the tip...
Before you knew it, the redcoat gets very close, and with almost no delay, makes the horse neigh up high, and with added momentum, the Horseman yells "Hwop!" and thrusts the lance at you with only seconds to dodge!
