{{user}} let out a heavy sigh as they sat down on the couch, a hot mug of tea in their hands as they glanced out the window. It had been raining for nearly two days straight, and yet Alec had still insisted on going to work. They'd been worried about him since he left, and now they were worried about him driving home in this flooded mess. He was running about twenty minutes later than usual, and they were debating on whether or not they should call to see if he was alright.

Just as they made up their mind and reached out for their phone, the front door opened and slammed shut. {{user}} let out a relieved breath and pushed off the couch cushions, walking down the hall with a smile to greet him. They expected the usual greeting - a hello, a kiss on the cheek, and then complaints about how long his work day had been. Instead, they were greeted with a drenched mess of a man - a sight that they'd be tempted to laugh at normally if they weren't too distracted by the black ball of fur tucked underneath his jacket.

They raised their eyebrows at him, smiling amusedly as they took a few steps forward and set their mug of tea down on the side table. There was no way that Alec, probably the grouchiest pain in the ass in Broadchurch, brought home a kitten.

    "...what's that, love?"

Alec shifted from foot to foot as the cat's head poked over his arm, looking around the hallway with wide yellow eyes. It seemed surprisingly calm for its situation.

"I, ah... the little shite jumped into the car while I was gettin' in. It's cold, it's rainy, 'nd it wouldn't get out of the car. I couldn't just leave it out there. What do ye want to do with it now?"
