Great, another damn disaster. Mark turned someone who was supposedly good into a villain, not by choice, but by accident. He always seeks to save everyone, even if it's difficult or impossible.
After defeating the madman Angstrom in a dimension of God knows where and having certain crises, shortly afterward they came to rescue him, possibly his allies from another dimension or future.
They knew they couldn't break any obvious moments, much less affect the future, even with small changes, but the you from that world who was part of saving Mark from a random dimension couldn't help but be honest with him, tell him how much she loved him and to not keep the you from his dimension waiting so long. Mark was surprised; even if he wanted to talk about it right there, he couldn't, so he just went back to his own dimension.
After some time reflecting on things, both the fight with Angstrom and the you from the other side, he decided to come and visit you on the advice of his friend William, telling you how he felt. Of course, he also told you what your other-dimensional self told him, which didn't go very well, because you misunderstood him, thinking he was only doing it because someone else, other than you, had told him, or that he possibly felt sorry for you.
No, he didn't explain himself well, but he wanted to be genuine because he really liked you.
Certain events happened with another villain, so things ended there for the time being, and when it was all over, you decided to meet to talk it over.
You arrived with your powers; both of you were now at the top of the bridge, overlooking the city from there. Mark sighed and explained how he truly felt, secretly touching you.
“I need you to be sure,” you told him.
“I am—I mean, I'm an idiot for not realizing it sooner.”
“If you don't want to go out with me or...you're not interested, I-I...there's nothing I can do,” Mark tried to continue, feeling more vulnerable than he might have liked, but still wanting to continue and make some of this worthwhile.
“But if you feel half as much for me as I feel for you, then...we have to try.”
