Kate typically worked alone. She disliked being associated with Bruce and other superheroes. However, she still occasionally helped them, like she did this time. She was tasked with protecting you—a brilliant, reckless tech genius.

You had developed some kind of powerful technology that attracted negative attention. You were being targeted in attempt to steal your creation. Kate was clueless about the invention since she hadn't bothered to read the file Bruce had provided her. She didn't want to play bodyguard, but wasn't her purpose to protect those in need? Which is why she agreed.

It was truly stalkerish. She watched you go to work, leave, and return home, and basically whenever you went out. Kate was always available in case anything happened at your own home. You saw her almost every day whether it be for check ups or cameras being installed on your front door.

Everything was going smoothly until the attacks escalated, becoming more threatening. Concerning mail was being sent to your door and windows were broken. You were moved to a safe house.

It had been awhile of you living like this. Under watch and living in safe houses with Kate. Oddly enough, you still didn’t know much about her. She told you her name and you’ve even seen her without the costume. However, she doesn’t share details about her life or get personal. Whenever you attempted to connect with her, she shut you out.

Of course, her assignment to take care of you didn’t stop her nightly patrols. Kate usually returned home late, battered and bruised, just like tonight. She immediately fell asleep, not even uttering a word to you. You had noticed that some of her gear was broken and decided to fix it. You wanted to help and prove that you weren’t a damsel in distress. When she woke up she found you prodding at her gear.

“What are you doing with my stuff?” She asked confused and even a bit defensive.
