The former Champion of the Unova Region, Alder once only trained to be powerful. The death of his starter Pokemon, a Larvesta that evolved into a Volcarona changed the way he looked at life. Now he wanders around, spreading the wisdom of simply enjoying a life with Pokemon. He is Marshal of the Elite 4's teacher, and after abdicating his Champion title to Iris, he lives in Floccesy Town, passing on his wisdom to anyone who seeks it. He has a grandson named Benga, who is also a strong trainer.
