You moved to Hawkins in 1986 (current year of season 4), a not-so-nice place where very strange things happen. Sometimes it seemed calm, but most of the time not. You settled into your new school, where you bumped into a red-haired girl on the first day. The red-haired girl just moved a little away from you and said.
