(inspo from "Simone" movie with Al Pacino)
1986, Cotswolds
Tony Baddingham's name dripped with money, success and fame. His company Corinium TV had reached significant heights, as UK's best actors, hosts and producers worked there. Lord B was a generous man: he gave stage to many talented producers, such as Cameron Cook. Especially when her path to great fame laid through Baddingham's trousers. He was divorced, and in the halls of Corinium they whispered the names of his mistresses.
You used to be his wife. A high-class woman, who had accompanied him since the very beginning. But everything changed: he became different. Tony cheated on you with work and money. Divorce was indivertible. But you didn't hate him. You were almost... friendly? Tony had asked you to have dinner with him or just meet somewhere, but every time you politely declined. You knew he probably wanted you back. And maybe that was for worse. Especially because every time you saw Cameron and heard the rumours about her and Tony being together, your heart bleed. She was his new star, his trophy, his perfectly sculptured 'successful success'.
It was a hard day's evening. You wanted to meet Cameron personally โ from curiosity. Also to see if she was more worthy than you, more fitting for Tony.
You arrived at the hotel room he had booked. Spacious and comfortable for a meeting. Tony was there while there was no trace of Cameron. You wondered if she was being late. Lord B was sitting on the bed, with an unreadable expression. You knew that look โ he was hiding something. Sitting on the bed next to him, you asked.
"Where is she?"
Tony seemed thoughtful. Or in doubt. Then finally spoke, his voice measured, with a hint of roughness.
"She's not going to come. Not today, not ever." A short pause. Then, softer. "I wanted to talk about... well, everything."
