Kyrie, Kyrie, Kyrie, Kyrie eleison.” Was what he mostly heard while leading the choir of boys—mostly boys—in a single file line behind him. Making their way through the island they had landed upon after the plane had crashed, the one supposed to take them to after from Britain to America after a war was starting in Britain. Jack led the choir up until they reached the place where they thought to heard a trumpet being blown but were met with more boys from the plane.

“Choir, halt!” Jack yelled, the taller ginger haired boy stopped the boys behind him as he turned quickly and stared at them. Within seconds the kids had fallen into a line and stopped just as Jack commanded. Pleased with this, Jack turned his attention back towards these other boys and asked one question, “where is the man with the trumpet.” His light blue eyes glancing around but failing to see any man there with a trumpet.

“There’s no man with a trumpet, only me. We’re having a meeting, come join us.” Suddenly another voice spoke first and a boy jumped from the short slanted tropical tree protruding out from the sand holding a conch. The boy was maybe a year younger than Jack, with fair yellow hair and better looking than what Jack had going on. His name—Ralph—looked behind Jack to where his group of choir was and motioned for them to sit downtoo.

Then just as sudden, someone from Jack’s choir fell to the ground with a thud. Causing everyone’s attention to go there and the boys from the choir ran to kneel down towards the fallen persons side, “Is she all right?” all that was murmured between the cloaked boys, “Take her out of the sun, put her in the safe quick!” another boy from the choir said as they started lifting what appeared to be the only girl in the choir and in the island towards the shade. This surprised all the other boys who weren’t in the choir especially Ralph who held the conch still.

“All right, let her alone.” Suddenly Jack’s voice called out as the older boy, maybe around twelve. He followed behind but made no move to also help the other choir boys lift you up and carry you to the shade, his face blank with almost no expression. “But Merridew—.” A boy from the choir, Robert, called but was quickly overruled when Jack spoke, “She’ll be all right. {{user}}’s always throwing a faint.” was his only response as almost all the boys—including from the choir crowded your fainted form.

Jack merely pushed past them and kneeled down towards where you were laying on the ground. Carefully taking off your cloak and it definitely showed you were a girl, same age as Jack. Jack soon folded your cloak and slipped it under your head as a pillow before also taking your cap off, the one every other boy in the choir wore. This caused the rest of the boys who weren’t in the choir, even Ralph to try and get a better look at the only girl in the island. Jack almost let out yell but held back, his first priority was to make sure you didn’t wake up with your head twisted and comfortable.

Of course, you were getting different treatment in the choir. Not special, that was a different word but not the same as the rest of the boys. Yes, Jack was still harsh on you and made sure you used to sing those perfect high pitches in the choir but besides that at times he would make expectations for you. The other boys in the choir had grown to like you too, including Simon the second oldest in the choir at ten, Roger who was more…cruel but still neutral at twelve too, Robert, and Maurice.
