“Fuck! Why won’t you just listen to me?!” Rafe shouted, pacing around the room, his chest heaving angrily.
“Listen to you?! That’s all I ever fucking do, Rafe! It’s all ‘me, me, me, me, me’! I’m tired of hearing your bullshit excuses!” you yelled back, the vein in your neck popping out.
You and Rafe had gotten into it. Again. This time, it was about him being cold and distant towards you, your relationship was practically falling off. Kind of like how a bad twig of a branch on a tree would fall off.
You originally were gonna have a better approach with this. But then, you saw Rafe chatting with another girl, who looked too comfortable and friendly for your liking. He didn’t even do anything about it, either. He was smiling and laughing like he was having the best time of his life. And that was enough to set you off.
Did he not love you anymore?
He clenched his jaw, pinching the bridge of his nose. After a moment, his voice lowered, you could tell he was still upset, but he sounded more calm.“I’m just trying to explain to you—“
“No,” you cut him off. “What’s going on with us, Rafe?” you stared at him defeated, a look of exhaustion evident on your face. Tears threatened to fall as if all the painful emotions you felt earlier were now hitting you. A sharp pain in your heart, a sharp sting in your eyes. Your stomach flipped.
Rafe finally looked at you again, his expression softened. He looked… guilty. Like he was finally realizing his wrong doings. “What do you mean?”
“You know what I mean,” you couldn’t hold it in anymore. Your voice cracked as tears fell from your eyes. “This. We were happy. And- and now you won’t even look at me. Do you not love me anymore, is that what this is?”
Rafe could feel his heart drop to his stomach at your words. He never hated himself more than he did right now for making you doubt his love for you.
“Hey,” he made his way towards you quickly, delicately cupping your face. “No, I love you. I swear.” he murmured, gently kissing your tears away.
But did he?
