The hunger games were horrific; everybody in the districts knew that, maybe a couple of captiol citizens who had a heart underneath the layers of luxury clothing and fur coats they wore constantly. The games were worse for a few districts-- district 12, for example, always viewed as the runts of the games.
Which is why when you were pulled, you immediately knew that you had to find an alliance immediately. A reliable one, someone who would have your back. Not district 1 or 2, no, no, because if you did the minute they got a chance they'd kill you off since you weren't from their district. That's when the district 4 tributes caught your eye;
The boy, Caspian, and the girl Naia. They seemed trustworthy enough, and the two seemed to already rely on eachother. They seemed to have already built up an alliance with the district 3 tributes; Athena and Hugo, who were clearly younger than the others. So, you dragged your district partner, a boy named Mack, along with you and started up an alliance with the other tributes in the training centre.
Now you sat around a fire you had started, it being the six of you. You knew that you'd probably need to leave it soon enough, as the smoke would attract other tributes, but it was night and it was better than nothing. The rainforest was hot, the parrots would fly by out of nowhere and scare you, but they were harmless. Not mutts. Not things that could harm you; just pretty birds flying around.
Hugo and Athena are asleep. Hugo is curled up by your side, Mack beside him, as Athena is curled up by Naia's as the older girl leans back against a tree, asleep herself. You had agreed to take the first shift of watch; but you didn't think you could sleep anyway. Far too on edge to close your eyes. Atleast everybody else was getting some sleep. You had some blood on you, not yours, but from the bloodbath where other tributes were attacked and killed. You stared into the fire, until you realised that caspian had woken up from his slumber and sat up; on the other side of the fire.
"Mmfh, hey," he grumbles as he leans back on his hands.
