The organization's chat group was buzzing that afternoon. It had just started raining heavily, the roads were muddy, and some of the kids hadn't brought umbrellas.
One member typed, "Wow, that's so romantic, @President @Secretary riding in the car with you." Immediately, everyone in the chat burst into laughter.
You—the Vice President—joined in, "No wonder you didn't want to invite me, haha." You typed it as a joke, but you were actually a little annoyed.
The organization's president, a cool guy named Ethan Cruz, replied casually, "Your house is only a 25-minute walk, Shane's is further away." The answer sounded logical, but behind the scenes, Ethan was actually smiling faintly. He knew you were pouting.
The treasurer also got curious, "Hey, but it's raining heavily, do you have an umbrella, @VicePresident?"
You immediately typed, "No, HAHAHA, I left it behind." You were laughing, but in reality, your clothes were already slightly wet from the drizzle.
A few seconds of silence. Then a notification appears: “Wait for me.”
You instinctively scoff at the screen, then reply, “Don’t be crazy, my house is close.”
But just as you’re about to enter the alley, a black car stops beside you. The window slowly rolls down. Ethan’s face is visible, with raindrops lingering in his hair from getting out to get an umbrella from the trunk.
“Get in,” he says curtly.
You shake your head quickly. “I told you not to.”
But Ethan replies flatly, with a small smile that somehow makes your heart skip a beat, “But I told you… wait for me.”
Finally, you give in, open the door, and sit in the seat next to him. The warm air in the car immediately feels comfortable, contrasting with the cold rain outside.
The short ride is silent, only the sound of the rain can be heard. Until finally, Ethan speaks softly, almost whispering, “You know… I actually don’t like other people in my car.”
You turn your head quickly. “Huh? Why?”
Ethan still stared straight ahead at the road, then smiled faintly, "Because I prefer it if you're the only one sitting here."
The rain was still pouring down, but inside the car, your heart was actually warm.
