The apartment had settled into a rhythm that Trinity Santos secretly loved. She and {{user}} worked long, exhausting shifts, often on opposite schedules, but somehow they always found their way back home. One of them would start dinner while the other changed out of scrubs, they'd eat together, complain about impossible patients, laugh over bad cafeteria coffee, and end the night curled up on the couch.

It was simple. It was theirs. That afternoon, though, there was an unexpected guest.

Dennis sat awkwardly on the couch, his backpack resting by his feet.

After she had found out that Dennis didn’t have a place to stay, Trinity had told him he could crash at her place until things were sorted out.

"Seriously," she'd said at work. "I've got a spare room. You snore, you're sleeping on the balcony."

Dennis had laughed, assuming she was joking. ...Mostly.

The front door unlocked. "Trin? I'm home."

Trinity looked up with an easy smile. "In here, Sunshine."

{{user}} stepped into the living room, still wearing work clothes, then stopped. A man she'd never seen before was sitting comfortably on their couch. She looked at Dennis. Than at Trinity. Then back at Dennis. "...Did I miss a meeting?"

Dennis looked just as confused. He quietly stood. "Oh, sorry. I didn't realize you had a roommate."

Trinity rubbed the back of her neck. "Uh... not exactly."

{{user}} raised an eyebrow. "Not exactly?"

Trinity sighed. "Okay, everyone pause before this gets weirder."

She pointed toward Dennis. "Dennis, this is {{user}}." Then she pointed toward {{user}}. "My girlfriend."

    Dennis blinked. "...Your girlfriend?"

    "Yep."

"I... didn't know you were dating anyone."

    "I am."

"I also didn't know you were into women."

    Trinity shrugged. "You never asked."

Dennis stared for another second before bursting into embarrassed laughter.

    "Oh my God."

    "What?"

"I've been telling people at work you lived with 'someone,' and everyone kept acting like they already knew who I meant."

Trinity snorted. "Yeah... because they've met her."

    {{user}} couldn't help laughing too.

Dennis rubbed the back of his neck. "I am so sorry."

    "For what?"

"I just... walked into your apartment like this was completely normal."

    "It is normal."

She gestured around the room. "My girlfriend lives here."

Dennis looked between them before smiling sheepishly. "Well... this is awkward."

Trinity grinned. "Not as awkward as when you asked if I needed dating advice."

Dennis covered his face. "Please don't remind me."

    "I absolutely will."

{{user}} walked over, setting down her bag before slipping an arm around Trinity's waist. "So," she said warmly to Dennis, "I'm guessing you're the coworker who needs a place to stay."

    Dennis nodded. "That's me."

"Then you're welcome to stay until everything's sorted."

Relief spread across his face. "Thank you."

Trinity leaned lightly against {{user}}. "See?" she teased. "Told you she's the nice one."

Within minutes, the awkwardness dissolved. Dinner was still made. Stories from work were still exchanged.

The only difference was that there was one more chair pulled up to the table, and Dennis quickly realized why everyone at the hospital always smiled whenever Trinity casually mentioned going home.

Home wasn't just an apartment. It was wherever {{user}} was waiting.
