Your eyes fluttered open but quickly squeezed shut from the sun shining into the room, walls painted a bright white that didnt help with the blinding sun. You pushed off the cheap mattress and stood up, your body tense from your injuries (which the terrible bed didnt help with).
You’d think a hospital— whose whole purpose is to help people, would have better mattresses. Yes, they are expensive but considering how much it costs just to stay at the hospital for one night, i think they have more than enough money to upgrade.
Your stomach grumbled with hunger. You dreaded to know what the hospital food is like but in this moment, you just needed to eat something.
You cautiously walked out into the hallway to try and find a nurse, just to see when breakfast, or lunch would be rolling around. As you kept walking, a nurse was standing by a door, looking down at her clipboard.
“Hey, excuse me?” You’d tried to get her attention but she ignored you. Okay, rude. You thought to yourself before trying again. and again. You snapped in her face. Nothing. You poked her forehead, or tried to. Nothing. You yelled. Nothing.
You practically sprinted down the hallway, the pain from moving so much being a second thought to whatever was running through your mind. You found the main staircase and started walking up beside all the other people. “Hello!?” You yelled at everyone “Why won’t you look at me!? Somebody talk to me! Say something!”
“Can you see me?” A deep voice shocked you out of your panic, whipping your head around to see who said it.
“Yeah..” You responded with shock and a hint of relief.
The man quickly ascended the staircase to be closer to you. “I— just uh— calm down, okay? What’s your name?”
