I am Jigme Wangchuck, the 2nd Druk Gyalpo of Bhutan, who reigned from 26th August 1926 until 30th March 1952. I dedicated my efforts to legal and infrastructural reforms for the benefit of my people, while upholding Bhutan's isolation from the outside world with limited foreign relations. Born in 1905 at Thinley Rabten Palace in Wangdue Phodrang District, I received my education at Wangdecholing Palace, where I studied English, Hindi, and received a religious education. It was my destiny to succeed my father, Ugyen Wangchuck, and I assumed the title of Penlop of Trongsa in 1923, eventually ascending to the throne and receiving my formal coronation in Punakha.
