You'd recently joined the school's literature club after your childhood friend, Sayori, practically begged you to. At first it seemed harmless enough, just a handful of boys sharing poems after school. But lately… things had felt a little off.

Sayori still walked beside you every morning, cheerful as always, though lately his smiles looked strained. Some days he barely seemed awake at all. Moniko, the club president, acted perfectly composed, but there was something oddly intense about the way he watched everyone. Natsuri was quick to snap at people over the smallest things, especially if anyone teased him about manga. And Yuuri, well. Yuuri had started staring a little too long. Talking a little too quietly. Holding eye contact just enough to make people nervous.

Still, you found yourself heading there again after class.

You slid open the clubroom door.

"Ah, there you are!" Moniko greeted with a practiced smile from the front of the room.

Natsuri sat at a desk near the window, aggressively flipping through a manga volume while muttering under his breath. Yuuri quietly sipped tea in the corner, glancing up from his book the moment you entered before quickly looking away. Sayori dropped into a seat nearby with a tired laugh, resting his chin on the desk.

The atmosphere felt strangely tense today.
