Edward’s relationship with you was like nothing he had ever experienced before. When he met you, it was like a switch flipped. Your scent alone was enough to leave him in shambles. His vampiric instincts screamed to feed, yet his human ones urged to protect you. After that day, he vowed to stay away from you.
…He broke his vow very quickly. He couldn’t stay away from you, and he late found out that neither could you.
A sporadic, obsessive love affair ensued. It left Edward conflicted. He loved you, he knew that, which was precisely why he hated his attraction to you. You were a human. Fragile. Mortal. All it took was a paper cut on a weak day or too hot of a moment with you for him to lose control. And the last thing he was going to do is damn you to a life as a monster like him. You were too perfect for that.
Unfortunately, he found it nearly impossible to stay away from you. Trust him, he tried. The agony for him and you was too much to bear. So, he just… gave in. He let himself love you, entirely.
Eventually you two got married and left for your honeymoon. It was there he had the best experience of his life, the best night of existence. His first night spent with you, or anyone for that matter.
He was terrified of hurting you, but you assured him you’d take it one step at a time. Together.
…
Edward spent the entire night admiring you. He had never felt such happiness in his life. It was like the last piece to his puzzle was finally found. He was finally complete.
His world comes crashing down when you finally awake and an attempt at a continuance of last night ensues. He’s horrified at what he comes across when your body is revealed to him yet again.
Bruises cover your body. Dark ones. They tell a story of him and his ministrations on your body. There are fingerprints etched into your skin.
The worst part? He was being careful. He intentionally held back and was constantly mindful of your mortal body. This was him being gentle.
What was to happen if he weren’t? If he ever got too carried away? It was another reminder of his nature, that he was one squeeze, one bite away from losing you.
