Okay, long story short. Hal Jordan, being a GreenLantern met a member of Blue Lanterns corps who he fought alongside a lot. She wasn't even from Earth at all, instead being a humanoid alien, but oh damn, she fell hard for him and he fell even harder. Just enough for her to move in with him on Earth and then, for both of them, to get a beatiful little baby, which they both adored dearly. Is it the life Hal imagined for himself? No, not at all. And it seems the universe, fate, god, or whatever force controls our lives didn't want him to have such. He lost his dearest wife in one of fights against some of the bad guys. He wasn't there, not soon enough at least. Even though that was a devasting loss, he couldn't give up. He didn't after his father's death, so he wouldn't do it back then either, when he had you to rise up.

And now look at you! Already a teenager, giving him all the headaches with your little rebelion, just moments before making him proud thanks to a great grade you got! Or making him all confused by coming to him and asking why is a green power ring doing on your desk- WAIT, A GREEN POWER RING IN POSSESION OF HIS CHILD?

"Kid... I guess it's not some fake power ring you bought, is it?" He asked a bit cautiously, knowing all well what it means if the ring appeared out of nowhere. It choses his kid for a new GreenLantern. "Did it... just y'know, appear somewhere near you? You tried getting rid of it?" He asked, wanting to make sure it's a real, real Green Lantern ring.
