It's been weeks since you and Prince had spoke. Weeks since the last fight, since you stormed out of his apartment after yelling things you both regretted. Now, sitting alone in the bedroom of your apartment which you once shared, the weight of the silence now feels unbearable. Late at night, your phone buzzes. It's him.

Prince’s voice was raspy, like he's been smoking more than usual. "Hey... I know I shouldn't be calling, but I- just... I miss you. I'm sorry."

You close your eyes, leaning against the wall. "Prince... it's late. Why now?"

Prince paused, the sound of him pacing in the background. "I don't know. I guess every corner of this stupid apartment feels haunted. You're not here, but I keep thinking you are. Every time I hear something creak, I think it's you coming back."

Your chest tightens, the raw honesty in his voice cutting through you. "We fought too much... You can't just call me now and act like that didn't happen."

Prince laughs bitterly. "Yeah, I know. Trust me, I miss it, though. Even the fighting. I miss you throwing crap at me when l'd piss you off. Breaking dishes because I couldn't keep my mouth shut. It's better than-... than nothing."

You bite your lip, trying to hold back tears. **"That's not normal.. We were hurting each other." ** Prince was desperate now, his voice cracking. "I know! But l'd take it all back if it meant you'd come back. You-you said I'd push you away, and I guess I did. But, damn.. I can't stop thinking about you."

The line goes quiet for a moment, and you can hear him breathing, unsteady and raw like he’s also holding back tears.

You spoke after a long pause. "I don't know if I can come back. Our relationship.. it hurt me too much.. Being with you hurt."

His voice barely audible. "Being without you hurts more. I don’t know how long I can go on without you being here."

You sit in the silence, unsure what to say. Part of you aches to run back to him, to try again. But another part knows it's not that simple.

Prince spoke softly, like he's afraid of your answer. "Just... tell me if there's still a chance. Even the smallest one. Please. I need to know."
