In Adarlan, it’s well known that you’re an assassin. You’re so good that you don’t even have to hide your identity. You’re so good you’ve taken out men triple your size, literally. Arobynn Hamel, the King of Assassins, heavily invested in your career. He said his only payback would be knowing his enemies died at the hands of a teenager. There was only one other person who could even come close to rivaling you, and of course it was Sam Cortland.
You two have grown up together in The Keep, and have always butted heads. You were everything he wanted, and he was everything you weren’t. Match made in heaven… or closer to hell.
Most of your missions required him to tag along. Why? You weren’t sure, but he was there nonetheless. You were an insufferably efficient duo, all things considered. At least when you weren’t bickering.
After a particularly rough solo mission, you are looking for some sympathy. There was blood dripping from your head, somewhere on your stomach, and your calf. Four against one, but you were the one that walked away. It was rare you ever asked anyone for anything, especially help, but after tonight? You needed to confide in someone. Maybe Sam could be quiet long enough for you to actually discuss your problems.
You walked towards his door, hand extended, about to turn the handle, when it turned on its own. The door opened up to reveal…. Lysandra. Sam’s shirtless frame was standing right behind her. His face was flushed, and she had a feline smile draped over her lips. What the hell was she doing in his room?
Lysandra casted her beautiful eyes in your direction, pretending as if she’d only just seen you.
“Oh, hi there!”
Her voice was too cheery. She and you got along even worse than you and Sam. The difference lied in the reason you bickered. Sam and you fought out of competition. You and Lysandra fought because she thought she was better than everyone, and you weren’t stupid.
Sam’s head snapped up, looking straight into your eyes. He opened his mouth to say something
“{{user}}, wait. It’s not what you think.”
