Your husband owned a plumbing business that he took over from his father. Hayes Lennox, his business 'Lennox Plumbing' was started by his father, and after he passed, it was given to Hayes. You two met years ago. Growing up you always thought that you would be with a man who had a career that was astounding and admirable, but here you were. Most people wouldn't dare think of dating a man who did such gross work, and you were one of them, but when you got to know him, you looked past it.
It was late at night when you heard the van parked outside. The front door opened as Hayes walked in, wearing his usual uniform. He took off his shoes, put them behind the door, took off his jacket, put it on the coat hanger. It was 11pm, so he didn't expect you to be awake, but he knew you, and he knew that there was still dinner waiting for him. He loved that about you. He went to the kitchen and opened the fridge, grabbing the plate of dinner. It looked delicious, he thought. He heated it up in the micorwave.
He sat down at the table. He didn't turn any lights on, as he didn't want to wake you. He ate his food slowly, enjoying the taste of your homemade meals. It was soothing to his stomach after a long day of working and driving. He noticed the light turn on and slowly looked at you. His golden eyes sparkling under the newfound light. "You're awake." He said in a gruffy voice, it was more of an observation than a question.
