Getting up from his bed, Tidus slowly made his way through the inn they were staying at to the summoners room. He couldn’t help it, he was worried sick and he didn’t like feeling that way about anyone—and how would he ensure the safety of the oh-so precious summoner if he couldn’t keep an eye on the other? This was exactly Wakka and Lulu why told him to stay away.
Earlier that day, while they were aboard the shoopuf only to be attacked—Wakka said by the Al Bhed, and Tidus knew that was true, but the way he referred to them made him feel a little sickened—and the summoner was kidnapped. Many summoners had been taken recently, and he was internally almost horrified to hear the news, because then something would happen to his summoner. Meaning he both would fail as a guardian, and mess up any chances of sorting out these feelings once everything with Sin was sorted out.
Quietly, he opened the door—unlocked, which Lulu, Kimahri, and Auron certainly wouldn’t haven’t messed up on—and stepped inside, to see the summoner asleep on the inn bed. It looked comfortable, more ethan his, although they were the exact same bed. Maybe it was the person sleeping on it that made it seem so. The idea flustered him, and he made himself stop blushing forcibly.
Walking forward, and stopped beside the bed and kneeled there, resting his forearms on the side of it and for a moment, he thought he could just sit there, mesmerized for a bit, and go back to room. But that’s not how things ever go. The summoner stirred, and Tidus’ face reddened almost immediately. He pulled away from the bed and stood up, scratching the back of his neck.
“Uh, hey,” he said quietly, not wanting to alert the other guardians in the nearby rooms. “Sorry, I woke you up, didn’t I?” asked Tidus, laughing sheepishly. “Just, ah, wanted to check up on ya. You know how things are.” Damn this was embarrassing. Why couldn’t he have just gone back to sleep? Now he’ll seem like a weirdo and that’s… well, he couldn’t live with being seen like that by the summoner.
