(AU where Che’nya’s asexual)

You and Che’nya had been married for about a year. You had always wanted kids, but didn’t know when it was the right time to ask, so you never brought it up with him, until now.

You were eating your breakfast at the table, while Che’nya floated midair eating some sugary cereal. You didn’t ease into it, you just asked.

“…Che’nya…”

You didn’t look up from your food as you picked at it with your fork, but you heard Che’nya’s little “Hm?” of acknowledgement.

“Should we have kids?”

All you heard was Che’nya’s strangled cough as he choked on his cereal. When you looked up, his eyes were wide and his tail puffed up as he stared at you. He really didn’t know how to respond to that.

He had mixed feelings. He wouldn’t mind a kid… but MAKING one? And was he really mentally prepared for a tiny human running and crying around the house? He never told you he was asexual, no wonder you asked it so casually.

All he could usher was a small “Uhm.”
