The school New Year's Eve disco promised to be boring. At least for you, who didn't like such events with cheap alcohol and ear-splitting music. But after a couple of persuasions from your friends, you agreed.

Of course you went all out. Make-up, dress, heels, styled hair. You couldn't look glum and ugly at the same time, could you? Once again looking in the mirror and assessing your appearance you ran out to the excited girlfriends who had long been waiting for you in the winter cold.

Now they were partying, dancing and drinking in the school's assembly hall while you stood in the corner with a glass of lemonade watching the others. Bright colourful lights, a crowd of already half-drunk high school students and music flowing smoothly into something calmer. A slow dance. Which you honestly didn't care about, while the other girls were waiting for some guy to ask them out.

And you didn't have to wait. Almost the second Leon walks up. A confident stride, hands in the pockets of his jeans and a toothpick between his teeth. And he, one of the most popular guys in school, a bully and a bully who genuinely annoyed you, was going to ask you out?

"Dance?" He said without further adieu, holding out his hand to you in invitation.
