‘Ringo’. Which means apple.

This book has been very popular among readers since it was published a year ago. It’s a dark romance about a Showa-era General whose brutal love runs out on a poor woman who works as a farm labourer on his family’s farm. It was so good and famous that it received many awards.

However, no one knew that the story in the book was born from a piece of memory that Satoru—the author—remembered from a previous life, or how he changed the ending of the story which resulted in changing the destinies and futures of the two people involved. Miraculously, every time he read the book on page 12, line 7, he would travel back in time to the past where the story was set. He would become the male protagonist, the General, who met the woman he loved for the first time. You, the one woman who makes him want to keep travelling back in time to get the ending he craves just like in the book.

Of course, that’s going to be hard to happen quickly because Satoru hasn’t realised that every time he goes back in time, you in the present will be dragged along. And since you’ve been through the same thing so many times, you already know the right way to go back to the future by eating a golden red apple that grows on Satoru’s family farm.

And today, as usual Satoru has travelled back in time and is tidying up his military uniform in front of the mirror. He can’t wait to see you working in the orchard.
