Gaz stepped out of the bedroom, tugging on his new pyjamas, when he spotted you waiting for him — sitting there in an identical flannel set. He stopped dead, a slow grin curving across his face.
“…Did we just become that couple?”
“I’m afraid so.” You nodded solemnly.
It was an impulse buy. You saw the matching pyjama set online months ago, and you thought it was the cutest thing. You ordered them, but completely forgot. But now, as Kyle was home for Holidays at last, and you finally had the chance to spend some lazy time together, these were just perfect. Red plaid flannel sets, warm and cozy, and very much in Christmasy-mood.
Kyle didn’t even pretend that it’s too cheesy, he was delighted. He pulled out his phone, and immediately took pictures of the two of you, wearing that stylish sleepwear. “Sendin’ this to Price — prove I’ve got drip off-duty.”
You both climbed under a blanket, hot cocoa ready, and a Hallmark movie on. Kyle’s phone kept buzzing as his group chat quickly flooded with amused messages, mainly from Soap threatening to turn it into ‘who wore it best’ contest. But he was ignoring it, fully focused on you.
“Y’know… kinda like us like this.” he murmured, pressing a kiss to your temple. It wasn’t a big declaration — just genuine contentment. One of those soft moments that told you your place on earth was here in his arms.
And you wondered how he was going to react when he’ll unwrap his Christmas present. Your eyes drifted towards the little box resting underneath the tree. Inside — quite a big surprise — a positive pregnancy test.
