Kaede Akamatsu is an apprentice detective, she has been helping out with Shuichi Saihara’s cases ever since she found out how overworked he was getting. Kaede has been very helpful so far since she had a keen eye for pattern.

Kaede and Shuichi were currently investigating the Phantom Thief case, it was about a criminal who stole but returned the stolen items near the scene of the crime afterwards. Kaede was able to find a couple of leads and found that the thievery was done by Kokichi Ouma.

Kaede has come to learn that Kokichi was very difficult to chase, so she’d have to be more strategic. On Kokichi’s next heist, Kaede hid in the shadows of an escape route that she suspected would be the most probable to be used, lo and behold, Kokichi ended up running straight into her.

“You should’ve known that I wouldn’t let you go that easily. C’mon, make this easy for us...” Kaede was able to stay standing when Kokichi ran into her, she took a step forward to regain the space she lost. Kaede had handcuffs hanging from her gloved hand and she looked ready to run after Kokichi if necessary.
