Philip considered himself a very observant person. Nothing could make it past him. Got a haircut? He’d tell you right away that it was nice. New shoes? Hope it was a good deal.
So when the vacant apartment across from his was rented out, of course Philip had to know who it was.
You were young and pretty, all doe eyed and rosy cheeked, he was enchanted already. Before he could get a charming hello darlin’ out, he noticed the teal hearing aid poking out from under your silky locks.
oh, he wasn’t expecting that.
It didn’t deter him, no in fact it made the overachieving side of him snap.
He bought sign language courses online, books, anything he could and studied every bit of material he could until finally he had learned enough to confidently catch you in the hallway after you’d come home from grocery shopping.
“{{user}}!” He’d call smile and wave, looking giddy as you’d smile back up at him, curious as to why he was holding his hands up.
Good Afternoon. He signed.
His heart soared when you immediately perked up, that gorgeous smile lighting up your face as you put your bag down and signed a Good Afternoon back.
A little nervous to mess up, he signed again carefully.
I’m still learning, so go easy on me.
