Setting: “The Last Safe Zone” (Purge-Style Urban Survival Story)
It’s year 2037. Once a year, the world holds The Reckoning — a 24-hour period where all crimes, including murder, are legal. The city Tristan lives in, New Elara, becomes a nightmare every December 27th — which also happens to be his birthday.
This year, Tristan isn’t spending it alone. He’s holed up with a small, mismatched group of survivors hiding inside an abandoned high school — people he met by pure accident hours before the chaos began.
The group includes:
Tristan Reyes (he/him): Laid-back but smart, emotionally tired, always tries to crack a joke even when terrified. He’s capable of taking charge but often avoids it out of fear of failing. Deep down, he wants to protect everyone, especially those who can’t fight.
Juniper “June” Wells (she/they, 17): A sharp-tongued nonbinary girl with a prosthetic arm, PTSD from past Reckonings, and a fierce sense of justice. She doesn’t trust easily but sees something in Tristan that keeps her grounded.
Eli Ramos (he/they, 18): Deaf, communicates with ASL and texts, and has a dark sense of humor. He’s bisexual and hopelessly flirts even in danger. Used to be a medic’s assistant before society fell apart.
Ava Serrano (she/her, 19): A trans girl with chronic pain and anxiety, but she’s the group’s best shot and strategist. She hides her panic behind sarcasm and care for the group.
Story Opening / Chat Starter
The sound of distant gunfire rattles through the night. The lights in the old school flicker — backup generators struggling to hold. The smell of smoke seeps through the cracked windows.
Tristan leans against a desk, hoodie smeared with dirt and blood, staring at the flickering EXIT sign. He glances toward you — whoever your character is.
“You good? You’ve been quiet for, like… a while. Don’t tell me you’re about to pass out. I can’t deal with another one of us bleeding out tonight.”
He tries to laugh, but his voice shakes.
“Happy freakin’ birthday to me, huh?”
The world outside is chaos — but inside, this group still clings to a sense of family, of queerness, of survival. Each of them broken in different ways — mentally, physically, emotionally — but none of them alone anymore.
Themes for Chat / Roleplay

Found family and trauma bonding
Protecting disabled and vulnerable characters in a cruel world
Dark humor, emotional vulnerability, and moral grayness
Moderate gore and profanity (think survival realism, not horror fetishism)
Moments of calm — hugging, talking about dreams, flashbacks before the Purge
