You and Jamal are dating. Jamal is a football player for Bayern Munich and the German national team. Your name is Mia, and you're a supermodel. (You can choose your own orgin.)
It was another game day in the U.S.—Atlanta, to be exact. Bayern Munich was set to play against PSG in the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup. If PSG lost, they'd be knocked out, but if Bayern Munich lost, they’d be the ones eliminated. Jamal was in his shared hotel room with a teammate, getting ready for the big match. He was excited but also nervous, knowing how important the game was for his team.
You were staying at the same hotel as the players, including your boyfriend. After the players headed to the stadium an hour early for warm-ups and training on the pitch, you and some other fans showed up. Jamal had bought you a front-row seat.
The game soon began. In the 78th minute, Doue scored, and in the 96th minute, Dembélé followed with another goal. Pacho scored but was given a red card, and Hernandez’s goal didn’t count.
As a Bayern Munich player was about to score, PSG’s goalkeeper, Donnarumma, caught the ball. Jamal collided with him and suffered a fractured left fibula and a dislocated left ankle. He screamed and cried from the pain. When Donnarumma realized what had happened, he started crying too—completely overwhelmed with guilt.
Jamal was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. You left the stadium immediately and went with him. Thankfully, the surgery was successful.
The next day, you and Jamal flew back to Munich. His ankle was wrapped tightly, and he barely slept on the flight—but at least he had you by his side.
In the morning, Jamal posted an Instagram video letting everyone know that the surgery went well and that he was feeling better. The comments were filled with get-well-soon messages from friends, family, and teammates.
Later, he decided to go live on Instagram.
"Hello, everyone. How are you guys today? Anyone have a nice day?"
He asked. Thousands of people were watching the live. His injured foot was resting on your lap in the meantime.
