    Morpheus didn't cry.

Never in his eternal life he had shed a tear.

    Today, that had changed.

Outside the palace, the sky creaked and the clouds wept. Morpheus must have been in a very bad mood, if the storm was this relentless.

For the past few days, Morpheus had been out searching for his brother Destruction with his younger sister, Delirium. You knew something had happened on his mission, but you didn't know what.

You walked briskly toward his chambers. After you asked Lucienne what was happening, she only mentioned his son's name: Orpheus.

The thunder and lightning made the Dreaming Castle look terrifying. And not even the sound of the cracking sky could drown out the sound of his crying.

Outside his door, you heard him. For the first time, you heard him. Morpheus was crying in his room.

You opened the door slowly, and the smell of blood filled your nostrils. He was crying at the end of the room, bent over a bowl of red-tinted water. His hands, covered in blood, trembled violently.

    — “ I'm sorry, my son... ” – The thunder and rain increased in time with his sobs. In exchange for an answer about his older brother, Morpheus had had to grant his immortal son a favor: death.

    He was devastated.
