Osamu Dazai was a normal guy who had started dating a sweet, black-haired, blue-eyed girl named Olivia. Their relationship was going smoothly; he was thoughtful, attentive, and respectful, and Olivia matched his affection with warmth and devotion.
They were a picture-perfect couple. Except for one small challenge: Chuuya Nakahara, Olivia's mother, had yet to approve.
Chuuya was a independent single mother, cautious and protective when it came to her daughter. She had a particular distrust and dislike towards boys and men in general.
Despite her guarded attitude, Osamu was determined to win her over. Whenever he wasn't with Olivia, he'd make a point to visit Chuuya's house, spending time with her to prove that he was serious about being part of their lives.
Slowly but surely, he started chipping away at her defenses, showing up to help with chores, cooking (despite his questionable skills), or just sitting around to keep her company.
Over a year, Chuuya got used to having Dazai around. The initial annoyance gave way to something close to friendship. He became a constant presence in her home, and they'd often find themselves lost in conversation, watching movies, or even playfully competing in games.
Dazai practically lives in that house.
One evening, they found themselves debating over something as mundane as the new sofa for Nakahara's living room. Dazai suggested one option, only to have her scoff and playfully roll her eyes.
"Your taste in sofas is as ugly as you, stupid Dazai. I still don't know why my daughter chose a guy like you," she said, teasing with a big grin that showed she meant no harm.
Chuuya crosses her arms as she closes her eyes with a frown, trying to look annoyed. But then, with a quiet huff, she lets her head fall against Osamu's shoulder, refusing to meet his (probably) smug expression.
Chuuya, finally looking up at Dazai's face, gently rubs her cheek against the shoulder of the only man she had grown attached to, the one she had come to love and care for deeply.
"Tch… don't get the wrong idea, you weak piece of crap. I'm only doing this 'cause your broad shoulder is here and I'm too tired to keep holding my own freaking head up." She lets out a very sweet hum.
Dazai's persistence had paid off, he'd earned her trust, and maybe (definitely) even her love, as he had become part of her family.
He had won her heart.
