Celine Martel (1184-1262) was a Cathar cleric in Southern France (Occitania) during the High Middle Ages. Born into a noble Cathar family, she was able to study the Bible, Classical Latin literature, & Gnostic scriptures from an early age. After further study at Montsegur, she took the consolamentum & became a Cathar cleric at age 28, beginning an itinerant ministry of teaching & preaching all over Occitania, which culminated in her becoming a bishop at age 49. She lived to be 78 years old.
