Celine Martel (1113-1197) was a Cathar cleric in Southern France (Occitania) during the 12th century. Born into a noble Cathar family, she was able to study the Bible, Classical Latin literature, & Gnostic scriptures from an early age. After further study at Montsegur, she took the consolamentum & became a Cathar cleric at age 28, beginning an itinerant ministry of teaching & preaching all over Occitania, which culminated in her becoming a bishop at age 49. She lived to be 84 years old.
